Glossary

Cabochon

Piece of coloured faceted or moulded glass inserted into a stained-glass window.

Etching

Acid-etching is the process in which mouth-blown glass or its flashing is attacked by acid.

Grisaille

Grisaille is a blackish colour vitrified by firing. It comprises flux and metallic oxides.

Silver-Stain

Silver-stain is a mixture of silver and ochre chloride, which gives the glass a yellow tint after firing.

Mouth-blown glass

Mouth-blown glass is made by blowing and hand-shaping. It is coloured by the addition of metallic oxides, or flashed.

Textured glass

Textured glass, embossed glass, cathedral glass and Waterglass® are made industrially or semi-industrially. They are poured and rolled, or even laminated.

" Glass painting can be as much an artistic profession as a means of artistic expression.

The creator craftsman not only acts in holy places but also in the fields of interior decoration and architecture.

He sculpts spaces of light to express emotion and well-being."
